For many years, Margaret Timbrell, the village's lay preacher, published a monthly newsletter, two sides of A4 typed out on an old-fashioned typewriter and roneoed by the staff at Nunnington Hall. However, as Margaret aged, she felt she couldn't continue with the newsletter and asked volunteers to take it over. Clang and Tracey duly answered the call and found it was a little bit more complicated than they had thought, whereupon I was asked to help. The new Nunnington News is the result.
By good fortune, we took over in February 2020, just before Covid, so we could use the Newsletter to inform our readers about the virus and the measures taken to control it.We aim to publish the News each month, although sometimes it's just the Diary page, and we aim to inform, educate and entertain the village and the many subscribers from beyond the parish boundary who read the News. As publisher and editor, I take the many contributions we receive through our online form, edit and set the items and usually write an article or two each month.
Short, sharp and to the point again this month, this edition of the News contains details and updates of the many events happening over December, as well as information about changes to the regular village services over the holiday period.
As always, in November, we devote space to Remembrance Sunday and all those who gave their lives in the First World War and later conflicts.

It is wonderful to be able to report on so much happening in our parish over the summer holidays (even if the weather is against holiday events and harvesting this year).

The weather in April dominated our May edition. Finally, however, the world is warming up at last, and Spring, hopefully, is on its way. And, for a small village, there is still a lot going on. Sadly, we also record the death of our most senior villager.
Our April edition of the News captured the spirit of Easter, Spring and renewal through a beautiful pastoral article and news and photos of newborn lambs.
This edition was devoted, in the main, to recording the snow and floods of the past two months, as well as including three obituaries.
This is a marathon, 24-page bumper issue to keep our villagers occupied throughout the cold, lockdown months of January and February.
Lack of time thwarted our plans to make this a bumper edition. Instead, we kept it short, publishing only regular articles and news and information about village events and the new pandemic rules. Next month will be very full!
We dedicated the November edition of the news to remembering those who had died, particularly during the two world wars. We were fortunate to have people in the village and from around the world with long memories or access to family records.
For a small village, its surprising how much goes on, from crop rotation to flying tree branches, serendipity to drawing, sloe gin to kite flying.
We devoted this newsletter to all our farmers and growers, now in the midst of a difficult harvest
Much of interest, again, in this edition, including information on the easing ion lockdown, as well as lots of stuff about country matters and the history of the village.
This was a fun News to produce as the village becomes closer and there is much to write about.
We took a slightly lighthearted view of the pandemic on the front page of this edition, feeling our readers needed a bit of a lift!
The newsletter came into its own this month. We were able to include updates on the Corona virus and provide details of all those willing to help.
