Bits and bobs
It’s been routine over the last few days. Even so, there is much to be grateful for:
As the garden has grown in the summer rain and heat my Ego Power multi-tool has come into its own again. I’m still amazed by its simplicity and design. It took the top off the hedge without difficulty and trimmed the rough grass without lead, petrol or too much noise. A wonderful design.
Grateful to Renata for acknowledging with pleasure my testimonial on her website and using it in her marketing material.
Thanks to Mark, a highly efficient plumber, for coming out at short notice (‘I’m not always this quick’) and repairing all our leaks, which seem to have accumulated over the last month or so.
Delighted to have finished my first Mapmaker Online with Friday evening’s third call. Went well and has given me good ideas for developing this
Hovingham market was as good as usual on Saturday morning, and its good to see old friends there including scotch eggs, Yorkshire rapeseed oil and Cooper King gin.
Resting by the bottom lake after my 10k run to Cawton and back on Saturday afternoon, I was amused to see an elderly gentleman running towards me, who turned out to be Fr H. He had run the 3.5km from the College. He was planning on a quick dip before running back. HW is 83. Inspirational!
Thanks to J and P for an excellent barbecue on Saturday evening, followed by a visit to the beer and bands festival at their local pub.
I’m still reading Harari’s Sapiens. It turns out to be much more interesting and robust in its thinking than my original impression. Particularly grateful to Harari’s insights into religion and the Christian faith
I’m humbled by the generosity of my Stansted coach passengers who have stepped up to the plate by adding to their payments for the cost of a seat to reduce the cost to monastic community.
