With gratitude
To all who made 2016 a memorable year for me
2016 may have been a tumultuous year, but for me it was inspiring and revolutionary. Here are just a few of the people and organisations I have to thank for making 2016 memorable (in no particular order):
- Tina Weeks and Serenity Financial Planning for giving a good home to my Planning for Life Clients
- Clang’s family for making us all so welcome in South Africa and January, and Nina for flying all the way from Boston to join us there
- Ampleforth Abbey for the guidance, consolation and direction it provides with compassion and wisdom
- Dent Global (the KPI team) for wonderful business coaching
- Free World and Lorna for enticing me back to the racecourse after so long away
- Augusta for providing an excuse for me to go out walking in the Yorkshire countryside most days
- Alex for re-awakening my interest in maths and philosophy as I coached him through his degree course, and for inspiring me to go back to uni
- Extremadura and the Finca Santa Marta for providing a wonderful walking holiday amidst the most spectacular spring flowers
- The Royal Oak, our little village pub, for welcoming us with a big heart and providing us with delicious Italian meals and relaxed friendly evenings at the bar throughout the year
- Clang, for putting up with me!
- Air France and KLM for getting Clang out to South Africa at very short notice for Uncle Colin’s funeral
- The Ampleforth Society for allowing me to develop and lead the Society in new and dynamic directions
- Frack Free Ryedale for its huge efforts to defend our Yorkshire countryside from the frackers
- Brené Brown for teaching me how to rise after a fall (after all these years)
- Lynn Twist for her inspirational book on the soul of money
- Our Lady of Lourdes for giving me the opportunity to serve those less able than me (twice) and for helping my spiritual growth
- All my friends for being there
- Gloucester Services and Farmshop on the M5 for making numerous drives to Bristol a bit more bearable
- Florence for giving us a great holiday in August, and Florencetown for reintroducing me to the delights of Chianti wines
- Airbnb for helping us discover new places and new people
- Great Runs for organising the Great North Run and giving me the opportunity to run again in the world’s largest half marathon along with 55,000 other people.
- Andrew Priestley for his incredibly useful work in helping me develop Living Money
- Barefoot Coaching for accepting me onto the Post-graduate Certificate in Personal & Business Coaching course in 2017
May 2017 be just as amazing
